Everyone knows a business owner wears many hats – from Chief Executive to Janitor. Right at the start of business, we have to wear many different hats such as research, sales, marketing, branding, web design, social media, customer service, office management, accounting and book keeping, IT help desk etc. That’s a lot of different things to think about on a daily basis. We’ve heard that those people who wear too many hats are “jacks of all trades” masters of none. It’s hard work to be a master, wouldn’t you say?
As a new business owner, it’s important for you to figure out in advance, exactly how you are going to get everything done in the time available to you. It can be a struggle at times, wearing all of these hats. You have to shift your balance and re-arrange, and sometimes even topple over.
Don’t sacrifice your performance or the results of your business by clinging to tasks that you shouldn’t be doing. Leverage what you do best–that may be two hats or it may be 10–but then hire out the rest.
For your business to grow and thrive, you must use your time wisely and make the concerted effort and ask yourself, “Which hat am I wearing?”, “Which hat am I good and which I need to outsource as soon as I can?” Outsourcing is not a sign of weakness – it is a sign of recognizing that it is time to allow others to work for you so that you can focus on your business. Offload your time consuming and tedious tasks to our super virtual assistant to avert total burnout!
We think you would LOVE your business more, feel better about it and be even more productive and successful. Your frustration at having to wear so many hats to keep the business ticking over would disappear and you would more clearly understand what value it is you bring to the business.
